IMO, the only real reason for it is to sell more stuff to players who already have more than they can ever use.
The club ho types will go out and buy them just because there are there.
The golfers who are eternally trying to buy a lower handicap (rather than actually learn to play the game) will buy them because somebody "guarantees" that you will shoot lower scores if you buy their superclub.
I won't buy one because I have a new driver (TM r7, the first brand new driver I've bought in 18 years), and besides... I think they are positively hideous. I won't be playing golf long enough in this lifetime to ever wrap my mind around something as obscene as the Nike Sumo.
But I don't really have an opinion...
