| Thank you for the welcome! I found this board when I was searching for reviews, started reading a few of the topics and couldnt wait to join. Seems like a very nice and knowlegeable group!
So I went and tried both drivers last night, I couldnt really feel a significant difference between the Taylor Made and Callaway but I think that's due to my lack of experience. The only thing that I liked better about the TM was the head size, the Callaway 454 just seemed a little too big for me. Plus I think both will really help my game and the TM was $149 and the Callaway was $199, so there is a plus side to that as well.
I found both clubs cheaper on the internet but the price in store includes a free swing analysis (which I never have done) and they will tell me the best loft and shaft for my swing which is worth the extra $15-$20 for me. I have always gone with an R flex and probably will this time too unless they say different. I know I have a fast swing but the ball NEVER goes straight when I swing like that so I have been trying to slow it down and let the club do the work (not trying to kill it all the time) so I think I might benefit from staying with an R.
Anyway, looks like I'm going with TM unless anyone here has any negative comments about it or thinks the Callaway is by far the better club for game improvement.
Sorry for the long post, it's not east making a decision without a lot of experience with different clubs and knowing what to look for. I tend to over think things sometimes when making investments! |
