| Buy Name Brand or Build at Discount?
after being a hack for 15 years I finally decided to take golf seriously, which means upgrading from my 15+ year old set of hand-me-down clubs to a fitted set. I have read some pretty good reviews on building component clubs at discount such as Golfsmith's Snake Eyes, etc.But my brother says I'm crazy to consider this option because they are not name brand. I think he just wants to feel good about spending the $ on a new set of Pings. So here is the question I pose to the readers of the Golf Forum (especially those who have done both), Should I "invest" the $ on a set of Pings, Callaway, etc. or build a set from components that I have selected according to my swing style and save the extra money while having the bragging rights of building them myself, and will those clubs be quality clubs?
