| As far as balls go, some balls are much harder and have a higher compression ratios, their meant for us amateurs with slower swing speeds. They'll give maximum yardage with the driver, but they have poor holding capability around a green (hard to put back spin on the ball). Some balls have a lower compression ratio and a softer cover, makes it much easier to put backspin on the ball, for holding the greens, usually used by experienced golfers with higher swing speeds.
