HONOLULU — - K.J. Choi, accustomed to starting strong at the Sony Open in Hawaii, closed with a birdie for a 6-under-par 64 that gave him a one-shot lead Thursday after the opening round at Waialae Country Club.
Choi has had six consecutive opening rounds in the 60s at the first full-field event of the PGA Tour season.
Jimmy Walker, on the other hand, usually expects the worst when he comes to these shores.
