After big victory in Indian Masters, Chowrasia wants to play PGA Tour

NEW DELHI -- SSP "Shiv" Chowrasia wants to follow in the footsteps of compatriots Arjun Atwal and Jeev Milkha Singh after he claimed the biggest title of his career on Sunday at the inaugural Emaar-MGF Indian Masters.

The 29-year-old from India had won eight times on the domestic Indian Tour, but prevailed Sunday in the first playing of the Indian Masters, an event co-sanctioned by the European Tour and Asian Tour and headlined by two-time U.S. Open champion Ernie Els.

Chowrasia carded a flawless final round of 5-under-par 67 to claim the $416,660 winner's check after earning a total of $240,000 in his 10-year career on the Asian Tour. Last year's third-place finish on the Professional Golf Tour of India Order of Merit earned him just under $60,000.

Singh became the first Indian player to break into the world's top 50 and also to play at the Masters at Augusta National, while Atwal was the first Indian to secure his PGA TOUR card in 2004 before he slipped down to the Nationwide Tour last year.
