| Creamer sets course record Paula Creamer carded a tournament record and a new personal best with an 11-under-par 60 (33-27) on Thursday at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger. The 21-year-old registered 11 birdies on the day to best Se Ri Pak's previous tournament record of 10-under-par 61 which she fired in the second round of the 1998 event. Creamer has a five-shot advantage over 2008 Wegmans LPGA champion Eun-Hee Ji (33-32=65, -6) and Gloria Park (34-31=65, -6) entering Friday's second round at the 6,428-yard, par-71 Highland Meadows Golf Club near Toledo.
Creamer's 60 falls one stroke short of the LPGA record for raw score held by Annika Sorenstam (-13, 59 at the 2001 Standard Register PING). It also tied her for second with four others in the LPGA record books for lowest 18 holes in relation to par behind Sorenstam's 13-under 59. The six-time LPGA winner made birdies on nine of her final 11 holes to reach 60. |
