| Defending champion Pak at 3-under 68 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger defending champion and five-time tournament winner Se Ri Pak shot a 3-under-par 68 (35-33) on Thursday at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio. The 11-year Tour veteran started on the back nine with three consecutive birdies on 11, 12 and 13 and a bogey on 14, making the turn at 2-under. The uneventful front nine saw just a single birdie on two, settling for par on the rest to finish round one in a tie for seventh.
The LPGA and World Golf Hall of Famer is going for a record sixth win in 11 tries at Jamie Farr this week. The win would break the record she currently holds with Mickey Wright (Sea Island Open, 1957-58, 1960, 1962-63) and Annika Sorenstam (Mizuno Classic, 2001-05; Samsung World Championship, 1995-96, 2002, 2004-05) as the only players in LPGA Tour history to win the same event five times (1998-99, 2001, 2003, 2007). Last year's edition of the Jamie Farr saw Pak hold off a surging Morgan Pressel on the final day to claim her fifth victory in Toledo. |
