Kenny Perry was back to worrying about golf Thursday after choosing to play in the US Bank Championship instead of golf's oldest major.
"It's nice to get back in my office," said Perry, who shot 3-under 67 in the opening round. "It's nice to get back where I don't have to listen to all that baloney."
Perry finally found some peace at Brown Deer Park Golf Course, after several days of harsh criticism from players and the media over his decision to honor a commitment and play in Milwaukee instead of the British Open.
In some ways, it wound up being a wise decision.
Brutal wind and rain greeted the opening round at Royal Birkdale, driving scores into the 80s for many notable players.
