| Depending on where your score went south, some systems will only allocate a handicap taking into consideration that the worst score you can get is a double bogey.
So if you went round in 25 over par, but on a par 4 you had a 9, when adjusting your handicap, it wont read it as a 9 but only as a 6, so all of a sudden you are 3 shots better off.
