I gotta back this guy up... A Happy Gilmour putter would be fun to bring to course! Would it suck as a putter? Almost certainly, but that's not the point. It would be *fun*. And as long as this guy isn't using it at a tournament (I think it's NOT regulation), isn't damaging the putting green with it, and not slowing down his play too much, I don't see how it would be anybody else's business if he doesn't take the game (or that particular round) too seriously.
Life is too serious as it is, why make one relief from it as serious as well? Isn't that why we go golfing in the first place? To have fun with friends, and challenge ourselves?
The people at the courses I've been to in the States and Canada would not be so uptight about something like this (as long as it didn't cause the potential problems I mentioned above)... and quite honestly, if they were I don't think I'd want to play there. Ever since I've read some dress codes for "golf appropriate attire" I've been dying to try that! That's tame compared to what I've seen Srgio Garcia wear a few times!
