Background:
Adam Scott is seen by some analysts as the next in line to the Aussie golf throne after Greg Norman – winning nine times on five continents, all with youthful style and flair.
As an amateur career he enjoyed victories in the 1996 & 1997 Australian Junior Championship, the 1996 New Zealand Junior Championship and the 1997 Doug Sanders World Junior Championship. He followed this streak with consecutive top 10 finishes on the 2000 European Tour as an amateur at the Benson & Hedges International Open and the Moroccan Open. In 2000, Scott turned pro and impressive finishes in Ireland, Scotland, Belgium and Germany helped Adam to secure his European Tour card in only seven tournaments. Outside of golf, Adam enjoys following all sports, fashion and music.
Professional Career Bio:
Scott’s first season in 2001 found him the winner of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa in January, and had four top five finishes to secure 13th position on the European Tour Order of Merit. In just his first year, he achieved ranking inside the top 50, gaining him entry to the exclusive World Golf Championship events.
In 2002, Scott’s wins continued, at the Qatar Masters and the Diageo Scottish PGA, where his 26 under par winning total earned a stunning 10 stroke victory. In April of the same year, and at only his first visit to the US Open/Augusta National, he tied for 9th.
February of 2003 saw him finish 3rd at the Accenture Match Play Championship in California -one of four World Golf Championships- losing in extra holes to Tiger Woods in a thrilling semi-final. In August, Adam won his fourth European Tour - becoming the youngest Australian to win four times on the European Tour. His first PGA TOUR win came shortly afterward at the Five weeks later in the United States at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.
Scott is 2005 is currently ranked in the top ten of the World Golf Rankings.
