Allianz Championship, the PGA, and Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities (BRCGC) board proudly announce the dates for second annual Allianz Championship to be held at The Old Course at Broken Sound. Bringing the legendary champions of golf to Boca Raton for a celebrated week-long tournament and activities from February 4-10, 2008, the Champions Tour event continues to drive all net proceeds to benefit Boca Raton Community Hospital.

The Allianz Championship with a purse of $1.65 million kicks off the Champions Tour’s Florida swing of three tournaments with the Golf Channel televising live all three rounds. The significant response and support of corporate and community leaders for its inaugural tournament helped garner more than 55,000 spectators, and secured national and international television exposure for Boca Raton with more than 57 million households tuning into Champions Tour television, registering it as the largest household delivery for a Champions Tour event in Golf Channel history.

Nick Price

Nick Price will be making his Champions Tour debut this week at the Allianz Championship. The last player to win his debut was Mark McNulty at the 2004 Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am.

This week's Allianz Championship marks the Champions Tour return to Boca Raton, Fla. The Tour competed in the south Florida city from 1983-1986. Gary Player won his Champions Tour debut at the Quadel Senior Classic in 1985 in Boca Raton.

The first two events of the year have been won with 23-under par scores (Hale Irwin, Fred Funk). The last time the Tour saw back-to-back winning scores of 20 under was when Jim Thorpe won the 2003 season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship and Fuzzy Zoeller won the 2004 season-opening MasterCard Championship. Both were 20 under.
