What do I need

I have taken up Golf at 56, after much effort I can reach 180 to 200 yards with my inexpensive Wilson driver. I want to upgrade. My Golf shop suggested the Cobra offset driver with regular flex . I use Tony Armour Irons and love them I see the Tony Armour offset at half the price, A big spread why I ask is the Taylor Made Cobras etc worth it for someone in my league. There is some much hype. Also Do I need senior flex.
Thanks

What you should do before buying any driver is demo it. If you are lucky enough to be able to try various drivers at an outdoor range then great. If not then the indoor launch monitors will help (as long as the person doing the launch test knows what he/she is doing)

I would suggest a couple of good used drivers. A Ping G2 or G5 with 11.5 degree loft, and your senior flex shaft.
A Cobra Comp in a higher loft.
Reason for the higher loft is twofold. You will hit it straighter and you will carry the ball in the air further. Two very impostant issues to driving the ball further.
As for the shaft flex, again that depends on your swing speed and tempo. I know guys in their early 60's who hit stiff shafts. I am 50 and hit Regular flex graphite shafts. Everyone is different, so no one can really tell you what flex you need.

Good Luck in the search for more distance!

Demo

Thanks Golfbum, I can Demo a number of clubs on the range, I have also talked to some people that have said, You hit the ball straight, You are looking for distance, do not screw yourself up with an offset driver. So a demo I will do
