Question Cleveland Launcher 460Ti vs TM R580 XD

Hello all,

Been checking out the site the past two days and there seem to be some pretty knowledgable folks in here, so I figured where better to get advice. I am in the market for a new driver and I have narrowed my search down to two....The Cleveland Launcher 460 Ti and the Taylormade r580 XD. These clubs can now be had for under $150 and are definately in my price range.

I am currently hitting a TM Supersteel 9.5 w steel shaft. I used to be the longest off the tee out of my friends, but now that they have upgraded to 440 + drivers I can't compete. Not only am I looking for more distance, but I am also looking for an extremely forgiving club...The supersteel that I hit now is less than forgiving. My swing speed is very fast and my average drive is probably around 260, although I have been know to put one out at 300+.

I have yet to hit either of these clubs, but I am leaning towards the Launcher. Please give give me any opions or reviews that you have on these clubs. Any input is much appreciated.

I hope to be active on the boards.

Can't honestly say I've used either Mike, as you can see by my signature I'm a Callaway guy. I waunder around to several other forums and from what I've seen the Cleveland Launcher seems to be the most talked about, granted this does nothing for actual "hands on experience", but when 7 out of 10 kids are using the same toy there must something to it....Go with the one that "feels right", half of buying and using something new is your own gut feeling, if it looks good, feels good and inspires confidence..."BUY IT"

I'm definately going to hit them before I make the final decision. Most of my friends are hitting the 580 XD, but I attribute that to the price tag being around $150 on that club for a few years now. The Launcher just dropped in price, I'd rather go against the grain and have a different toy in the bag than following suit and buying the 580 XD. Like you said have to hit them first though.

For what this is worth, I have hit them both at the store I deal with. Used clubs that had been traded. Personally I liked the Launcher better. I had a nice tight draw with it. But as you said, you can try both and decide what is best for you. Lucky you can do that, a lot of guys can't. I deal at a store that has an outdoor range so I can try before I buy.
One tip, if you try both and decide which one you want, do not go into the store and ask for a new one. Reason being you hit that demo fine, and the new one inside might be just a bit different. Shaft flex etc, even if it says R or S flex. Unless the one you try is beat up buy it. If not ask the dealer to tape a new one up and try it before you buy it.
Good Luck, let us know which one you buy.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I will be hitting them in the store and not outside. I should be picking one up in the next 2 weeks...I'll definately keep you posted as to which club I choose.
