I just got this, the other day, and I'm glad I did.

The club feels light, but swings strong. Kind of hard to explain, but it just seemed to work smoothly with my swing. I swing slower than most, but that's because I'm recovering from a current health issue.

I'm a sliceaholic. This club didn't cure the problem, but I wasn't slicing the ball near as deep as I was with my old driver(s). I adjusted my grip, slowed my backswing down "a lot" and boom! Every time! Nice and straight! I lost some yards, but I'm sure I'll gain them back as I get more used-to it, and as my leg gets better. I'm just glad to be hitting it straight, high and far (for once).

I used taller tees. I was "maybe" an inch to an inch and a half from the ground to the bottom of the ball, when I found what worked best for me. I usually tee up much lower to the ground but this club is much bigger than most. It has a pretty large sweet spot for us newbies.

The best part was the price. This one was free (gift). I keep seeing them for $149 or less online, though. WELL worth it, if you ask me.

I was hitting a "Proform" taylor made knockoff set before this. It was like apples and oranges out there tonight. I'm much more consistent off the tee, now.

I know my review may not be as well-worded as those of you that have been in this for a long time, but I really feel like I'm going to have a good season this year. This big dog should help.

Just a couple suggestions Leo:
a) try teeing up and hitting your drives with your 3 wood, if the slice goes away
b) try choking down on your driver by an inch,a lot of newbies slice their driver but hit a 3 wood no problem.
c) try clamping a golf glove under your right arm pit, when you swing dont let the glove drop.
d) try aiming to hit the ball on the left rear side of the ball.

These are all Old Wives Tale cures for a slice but sometimes they work.....

Oops, one other thing, with the new bigger head drivers, use a 3 inch tee, and tee the ball so that half of the ball is above the driver head at address.

I've been playing the 580XD for 3 years and love the extra hard face. Had it reshafted with a better shaft that suited my ball flight.

If you slice and are sure its a slice, then Del's comments are right on.

Sometimes people mistake a push or push slice for a slice. A push is a shot that goes pretty much straight, but down the right side (for right handers). It ends up in the right rough like a big slice. A push slice is a ball that starts straight at the right side then tails off deeper right. A true, big banana slice starts down the left side and cuts all the way acorss a fairway.

Now that we've gotten the terminology down, my point is this: you can have a good swing with the wrong shaft and still hit a poor shot, no matter what kind of head is on the club.

Generally, if your swing is slower and if your shots tend to wind up on the right, you might want to make sure you have regular shafts, not stiff.

If you have a quick or fast swing and your shots wind up more to the left, you may have too soft a flex and might think about stiff.

No matter what, just keep hitting it.

Del, thanks again for the tips. I'd say that 3 out of 4 of my drives now are high and straight, based on your tips. I tried the one where you aim a little "left" of the ball, and that didn't work for me. Straight on worked the best, and all of your other tips worked great!

Bobay1956, thanks for the explanation. My slice was a push slice. Not too crazy, but enough to tick you off when you're aiming a few hundred yards away. The shaft I have seems to be working out pretty good, and this driver's big face is extremely forgiving. Even when I "dink" shots, they still would be playable. My swing is not that fast, so I should be good to go. I did one of them simulator thingy-ma-bobbers before I decided on this club, too. Of course, I didn't buy it from that place, though. haha!

Thanks again guys! I plan on a couple more weeks of the driving range before I start my season. I'm hoping to break 90 this year (I'm basically new to the game, although I've been off and on for over 8 years).
