Taylor Made R580XD or Callaway BB II 415

This is my first post on this site, so I would like to start by saying hello to everyone!

Looking for some advice on three Drivers I'm currently debating on and wanted to see what people think. Not looking to spend a lot but would like to buy new (these three are in my price range), I'm in between a beginer and an intermediate golfer. My biggest problem is lack of distance and a slice on my Drives.

Looking at these three drivers:
Callaway Big Bertha II 415
Calaway Big Bertha 454 ti
Taylor Made R580XD

Looking for the easiest to keep straight and get distance out of for a not so good golfer.

I havent had a swing analysis done, but since I'm still just starting out I will probably go with standard lie/length and shaft. Currently using a Taylor Made Super Steel Burner (not sure of the head size but smaller that the three listed). Planning on taking lessons again but want to start them with the club I plan on using.

Thanks in advance for your help!

First off jmarino welcome to the board, believe me theres always room for another golfer. You'll find the board friendly and informal so dont be shy about posting. Now as far as the Driver goes, you'll see by my signature that I use the Bertha 454, am no John Daley by any means, but I've been more then happy with it since June of last year. I see they've come down substantially in price, pretty sure you can pick one up for under 200 bucks. Haven't used either one of the other clubs so cant help you there. Again Welcome aboard

Thank you for the welcome! I found this board when I was searching for reviews, started reading a few of the topics and couldnt wait to join. Seems like a very nice and knowlegeable group!

So I went and tried both drivers last night, I couldnt really feel a significant difference between the Taylor Made and Callaway but I think that's due to my lack of experience. The only thing that I liked better about the TM was the head size, the Callaway 454 just seemed a little too big for me. Plus I think both will really help my game and the TM was $149 and the Callaway was $199, so there is a plus side to that as well.

I found both clubs cheaper on the internet but the price in store includes a free swing analysis (which I never have done) and they will tell me the best loft and shaft for my swing which is worth the extra $15-$20 for me. I have always gone with an R flex and probably will this time too unless they say different. I know I have a fast swing but the ball NEVER goes straight when I swing like that so I have been trying to slow it down and let the club do the work (not trying to kill it all the time) so I think I might benefit from staying with an R.

Anyway, looks like I'm going with TM unless anyone here has any negative comments about it or thinks the Callaway is by far the better club for game improvement.

Sorry for the long post, it's not east making a decision without a lot of experience with different clubs and knowing what to look for. I tend to over think things sometimes when making investments!

Discreation is ALWAYS the better part of valour Joe. As far as the club goes, pick the one that "Just Feels Right", you'll be happier and more confident using it. Good Luck and hit'em a mile.
