Yea that is a sweet setup. That would be my shaft of choice if they weren't $200. I still might save up for one.

Anyway, I hit the Alpha C830.2 Plasma today. It had a Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue 65x in it. Lemme tell ya, this thing sets up to the ball so well. It looks great. I feel like there is no way I can mishit it. I hit the first few to the right b/c I'm used to my R540 with the stiff TM shaft, which if you ask me isn't all that stiff.

Anyway, I started swinging it a bit better and WOW. It had just rained for about an hour so the course was pretty wet still. I was still hitting 320 on the good ones with little roll. It's easily 10-15 yards longer than my R540, if not 20. It has a really good ball flight with this shaft. It still goes pretty high due to my natural ball flight, but not as high as my R540. It has a really deep face, so I can tee it down a little to get it to go lower. I can't get over how hot the face is on this club. When I hit it solidly, it just blasts off the thing and carries forever. Amazing.

The sound. Very loud plink. The R540 was just kind of a plink that had a somewhat hollow sound to it. This one is a little higher pitched and louder. It resonates a little longer too. Gave me chills the first couple of swings.

I'm going to do some more testing on this thing if I can work it right to left. All I could get out of it today on 10 swings or so was an incredibly straight ball and a light fade; obviously due to me not being used to the performance of the shaft. If you can ever get your hands on one, I'd highly recommend it.

Can't wait to hit it again!

OOHHHH!!! I'm drooling!! That sounds great! Must hit one ASAP!I just love it when clubs make that loud plink sound.. My natural shot shape is a light draw..so I will definently try this out. Hopefully, I will go to GS this weekend..and I got a whole list of clubs I want to test!

Yea man you really should. I think this is gonna be my new driver. I'm still demoing, but hit some absolute bombs today, 20-30 yards past my normal ball and am starting to get used to the shaft so shaping is easier now. Also can control the trajectory easier with the stiffer shaft.

Yeah, I couldn't get to GS..to busy. Maybe this week..I have heard mixed review about the Alphas..some love em, some don't. Really the only complaint I heard was that they were not very durable? I don't know about that..the one I hit seemed plenty solid. It wasnt a Plasma though..what says you?

This is the only one I've hit. It is definitely not a driver for the less-skilled golfer. Even though it's a 460cc head, it's not one of those extrememly forgiving, "straight on every hit" clubs. It's very workable, which is what I like about it. Much more workable than my R540. Could be the shaft though. My take is that this club was built for big distance, while still maintaining some workability. The harder you swing it, the more solid it feels.

Don't get me wrong at all. If you're anything below a 12 handicap or so, this is an awesome club, but anything higher and I would probably recommend a more forgiving club. This is a great club, you just have to know how to use it.

So the Alpha is now my new driver. At first I thought the shaft was going to be too stiff. It's a 65x and I have a pretty smooth tempo, but it seems like it's ok now. I can hit it straight or with a slight draw or fade easily 300. Still a little getting used to, but all in all, a very good buy.
