| Hi PapaJack, went looking on google for an answer to your question, with unfortunately little success. I could not find a manufacturers site that recommended one way or the other. Several of the instructional sites, did strongly recommend aligning the face with the target. It would seem to me that aligning the offset to the target would be defeating the purpose of the offset. If you think about it the offset is there to counter an outside to inside swing or slice, affectively trying to fight a slice spin with a hook spin. This is just my opinion on the subject, maybe some of the more experienced players can help you out.
