Lining up an offset driver

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to be asking this question but I'll ask anyway. When lining up an offset driver do you square it to the target or do you play to the offset? If you play to the offset how do you line up the angle?

Hi PapaJack, went looking on google for an answer to your question, with unfortunately little success. I could not find a manufacturers site that recommended one way or the other. Several of the instructional sites, did strongly recommend aligning the face with the target. It would seem to me that aligning the offset to the target would be defeating the purpose of the offset. If you think about it the offset is there to counter an outside to inside swing or slice, affectively trying to fight a slice spin with a hook spin. This is just my opinion on the subject, maybe some of the more experienced players can help you out.

Line up at the target, that is where you want the ball to go.

On the first tee I'll set up with the face in it's normal, slightly closed position. If this produces too much of a draw, on the next tee I'll open the face a bit until it's square. I fiddle around with it throughout the round - it really depends on how the ball is flying on that particular day.
