| 2001-2004 (?) drivers... whats your favorite of yester-year? i'm looking to upgrade drivers in the future. if read my sig, you might guess why (it said 17 when i joined last month). i'm looking for a proven driver model of the near past.
basically, one thats being replaced this year if ya know what i mean.
anyone got a favorite? i have a preference for smaller head designs, so please keep that in mind.... it may take me a little while yet to adjust to the tennis-racquet style clubs on the tees today. i did hit a new titleist 900 series the other day... impressive sweetspot, but i dont want forgiving mishits right now. i took ten years off from the equipment game, and i'm currently a used-club buyer for the most part. spendin my money on greens fees at the moment.
oh, and i broke 80 for the first time today. (38-41, 67/107, par 72). i know i need a better driver, but its hard to say goodbye.
edit: driving characteristics if relevant: swing speed ~100mph with steel shafts. i hit about 50% fairways and have little statistical preference for right/left misses (not an area i'm looking for statistical improvement; tees are getting harder, and i look to shape shots more). i keep ~5 stats for a round now, but driving distance is not one of them. top end is over 300, average is 255-275 (i usually estimate... who doesn't?).
i will be looking for something in the 9* range as i carry a strong 3-wood i use regularly off the tee.
thank you for your time.
