| Trying Something New I use a Callaway X-460 Tour driver, 9.5 degrees. It has a square face, but a neutral bias. For whatever reason, I tend to hit it very low.
I just got an Callaway FT-3 driver, 10.5 degree with a fade bias to try. Since I'm the opposite side of most golfers, in that I fight a hook, not a slice, I'm interested to see whether the fade bias might let me set up open, get my weight through more easily and hit a longer drive with a power fade than I can now with a low hook.
Anyone have any experience with the fade bias?

| I have a friend that loves them. He too like me and you fights a hook. The FT-3 is a great club and it goes a long way when you get used to it.
The X-460 Tour in my opinion is the worst driver that Callaway makes. I hit them very low aswell. |

| LOL - I may be happy with the FT-3 if it just makes a different NOISE than the X460. Every time I ring that X-460, school kids think they have to get up and catch the bus!
I hit the X460 well enough, but with the soft, sandy soil here, which is also often wet, I think I might be better off hitting a fade and getting more carry.
As a teen and through college when I played my best, I always played a fade. That's not the easiest thing to do with a Callaway iron, even the Tour models other than the X-Tour, but I'm going to work on it. My hook is not necessarily a longer shot since to fade the ball, I get my weight through more quickly. If I can develop some consistancy with the fade move, it'll be better in the long run.

| Yeah I'm glad someone brought up that the x460 is bad driver. I hit it at the local golf store and the whole experience gave me a bad taste in my mouth about Callaway drivers. LOL

| Golf Clubs are like marriages, what suits me and my wife may not be your cup of tea... in other words, it's pretty subjective backed up by an amount of performance.
I don't feel the 460 is inherantly a bad driver, but I feel course conditions hurt me in a couple ways. When the ball lands, the soft and wet course just stops me from getting any roll. This is on top of hitting it lower, in which case I wonder if I'm hitting it as far as I can.
The other thing is, when I hit a bad hook, under different conditions, the ball gets farther into trouble.
Basically, I believe how I hit it controls the ball in the air, but as soon as it hits the ground, I'm no longer in control and the course takes over. So, to minimize the course's effect, I want to fly the ball as far as possible and land it with less opportunity for roll. I'm going to take Lee Trevino's famous line to heart and see it it works for me... "You can talk to a fade, but a hook won't listen."

However, the X460 was just a bad driver when compared to the other drivers out there. The X460 went on sale just a few months after it came out. |

| The news on the FT-3 fade bias is good so far. I didn't get to hit balls this morning and stepped up on the first tee totally cold, other than the few practice swings I made with it. The first shot was a big push, (I suspect nothing to do with the fade bias), and it resulted in a lost ball.
As I loosened up, I leaned I could easily hit fades with it, but I guess I'm also strong enough to turn anything over and when I set my wrist hard at the top and came through, I was able to hit some decent draws that didn't turn into my big hooks. I only hit the left rough once all day.
The sound is unusual, almost wood like. I seem to get good distance with it, with a lot less effort than with my other drivers. I still seem to be putting a lower ball flight on it than I would like, so I think a lesson is in my future.

| The X 460s are alright! I tested one, and I thought it was good for the money. I liked it a whole lot better than some other clubs. Ping, and Nike included.
