Has anyone had the chance to try the new 905R?

I use the 983K at the moment and I am very happy with the driver. Just looking for input from anyone that has gone from the 983K > 905R and what their thoughts are?

I haven't tried that one. I've heard good things.

I know you really like your Titleist driver, but have you given some of these new 460 cc drivers a try? Ping G2/G5, TM R7 460, Cleveland, Callaway, etc. If you haven't, you owe it to yourself to do so. I'm a pretty consistent golfer who can shape the ball in either direction, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would not want the extra forgiveness of a 460 cc driver. There is only upside and no downside.

If you have tried them, then never mind. Sorry for the preaching.

Hi Sroh

I initially kept away from the higher cc club heads as these promote extra height on shots.

At the time of purchase, I was getting far too much height and not enough run on the ball, so I stayed with a smaller club head.

I would be interested in hitting both, I have tried and just cant get on with TM R7, I am keen on the new 905R as above. Ping just doesnt do it for me.

I used to love Callaway, but was not as acurate as I seem to be with the titleist now.

When I was shopping for the last driver, I had the shop line up about 10 or so, didnt tell me the make of any of them and I hit them one after the other until there were only a couple left, the titleist and the yonex, either one would have done me.

I think when the time comes I will do the same again.

This is a perfect example of different people needing different clubs, depending on their swing/ball flight.

It's clear you know exactly what you need, so 'carry on'! As you say, the bigger heads tend to hit the ball higher. Let me know how the 905R works for you.

As for me, I have used Callaway Big Bertha (long time ago), Titleist 975 (I forget whether it was the D or J), TM 320, TM 580 and now the Ping G2. But I have always looked for MORE height and carry.

There is a pro shop nearby that has started to carry the top driver heads with removable shafts. So I can try all the major brands in different lofts, WITH DIFFERENT SHAFTS. For me, the shaft is just as, if not more, important than the head. So my next driver purchase will be much more scientific than in the past. Can't wait. It will probably have to wait until next year though, as I still really like my driver. Plus, I have already put in a new hybrid and new putter in my bag this spring.

yes its been an expensive year so far, new irons in my bag as detailed below.

I know what you are saying about the shafts. My last two callaways dissintegrated because I was putting too much torque through the shafts, thats one of the reasons the titleist has helped me so much, the speeder stiff shaft is pretty damn good

I will eventually get my ass down to my local golf store so that I can try the 905R but to be honest - it will end up costing me £££ so its best I stay away for now

My playing partner has the 905R. He is very consistant and hits the ball a ton with it. it feels a lot like mine to me. There really is not a difference between the two for me. I hit them about the same same consistancy. Good club

I switched a couple weeks back from the Callaway Big Bertha 454 to the Titleist 905R with the Proforce V2 Stiff shaft. I am in love with this club. I found that the Titleist in a 10.5* has a higher ball flight then may Callaway 10* had and I mean way higher, so I tried a few different lofts and settled on the 9.5*. This club goes a mile and is very hard not to hit it up the middle.

My previous driver kept giving me sky rockets so one day a friends father brought out a old titleist and I like the feel went to the store and tried out the 905R and fell in love i got the fujikura stiff shaft and i have a nice trajectory with consistant accuracy and distance...
also even though it is 460cc it does not appear so it has a nice feel

I tried the 905R, looking for a replacement for my 905S and I found that I hit the ball way too high with the R. It was more forgiving but the ball flight was awful. I hit the ball high enough as it is. I eventually found, and fell in love with the Nike SQ 460 Tour with an X-Stiff Diamana Shaft, much lower ball flight and it goes a mile
