| Swede Henge back to form in Denmark Sweden’s Fredrik Henge continued his rehabilitation from a long term back injury with a fine six under par 66 in testing conditions to lead after the first round of the ECCO Tour Championship in Denmark.
Henge missed the whole of last season because of slipped disc sustained whilst go-karting but showed few signs of the problem as he posted eight birdies at Kokkedal Golf Club in Copenhagen to lead a pair of Finns by one stroke.
The 33 year old revealed a new wedge had contributed to a superb short game display, following a week of sold practice back home in Sweden.
“I went back to an old wedge and I’ve been working hard with my coach to improve my short game,” he said. “My putting was also very good today – I think I made five putts between 10 and 15ft. Source |

| Three-way tie for the lead in Copenhagen Sweden’s Fredrik Henge continued to reap the benefits of home comforts as he joined Finland’s Antti Ahokas and England’s John Mellor in a share of the halfway lead at the ECCO Tour Championship in Denmark.
Henge, who has been commuting by train over the border from his hometown of Malmo, followed his opening round 66 with a solid round of 70 to move to eight under par for the tournament.
He was matched by Mellor who signed for a four under par 68 for the second consecutive day, following six birdies and two bogeys, and Ahokas who recovered from two bogeys on his front nine to card a 69.
Overnight leader Henge said he was enjoying himself on the course with the added bonus of being able to go home at night, despite the tournament being played in a different country. Source |

| Awesome Ahokas gunning for second win Finland’s Antti Ahokas set up a mouthwatering final round battle with compatriot Roope Kakko and England’s Richard McEvoy after a superb seven under par 65 gave him a two stroke advantage at the ECCO Tour Championship.
Joint overnight leader Ahokas began with three birdies in his opening four holes to forge an outright advantage before an eagle three on the sixth hole and another birdie on the eight saw him reach the turn in just 30.
A wayward drive saw him drop a shot on the 12th hole but he then birdied the 15th to move to 15 under par for the championship, following a day of low scoring in perfect conditions at Kokkedal Golf Club in Copenhagen.
“The birdie on the 15th, when I holed a five metre putt, was a turning point as I was losing a bit of confidence after a few bad shots,” said Ahokas, who is just outside the European Challenge Tour Rankings top 20. “This was my best round of the season. I had some chances to go even lower.” Source |

| Ahokas survives major scare to clinch dramatic win Finland’s Antti Ahokas claimed his second win of the season after a dramatic climax to the ECCO Tour Championship saw him hole a four foot putt when his hopes of victory had appeared dead and buried with two holes to play.
Dutchman Wil Besseling had a two stroke lead going into the 18th but four putted for a double bogey six to leave overnight leader Ahokas to battle it out with compatriot Roope Kakko for the title in the final group.
Kakko then missed a crucial five foot par putt while Ahokas, who had birdied the 17th to drag himself back into the contest, held his nerve to sink the winning putt and land the €28,800 first prize.
Ahokas had earlier looked to be cruising towards victory when he opened up a two shot lead with birdies on the second and third holes and even maintained the lead despite a double bogey on the seventh. But the left hander endured a nervy back nine with bogeys on the 11th and 13th before eventually steadying himself with that vital birdie on the 17th to card a two under par 70 and finish on a 17 under par total of 271.
