| Relaxed Jiménez ready to return in Switzerland They say practice makes perfect, but Miguel Angel Jiménez hopes relaxation will propel him to victory at the Omega European Masters this weekend.
Certain of his place in The Ryder Cup Team since he won the BMW PGA Championship title at Wentworth in May, Jimenez has played only six competitive rounds since The Open Championship and has had the last three weeks off.
It has left him fresh and raring to go in Switzerland. He said: “I have had three weeks holiday now. After the US PGA Championship in America I went home and went three weeks with no golf. Now is the time to get practising, get the feeling back again and I have two weeks to get form for The Ryder Cup.
“I just want to enjoy myself on the golf course and let things happen. That is what I will try and do like every tournament.”
The 44 year old Spaniard will have no problems settling in at the event. He has played Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club 20 times and revealed he has an affinity with the place. Source |

| Houston flying high in Swiss mountains Three years after saving his European Tour career high up in the Swiss Alps Welshman Garry Houston has made a great start in his bid to do exactly the same.
Houston played the first 13 holes of the Omega European Masters at rain-soaked Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in three under par to share the lead in the race for the €333,330 first prize.
The 37 year old is 132nd on the European Order of Merit, with only the top 115 keeping their cards at the end of the season.
Back in 2005 he came to the same course lying 126th on the money list, but began with a 65 and ended the week joint fourth. Source |

| Rumford and McIlroy chase clubhouse lead in Switzerland There is a distinctly Welsh feel to the first round leaderboard at the Omega European Masters, but an Australian and a Northern Irishman are trying hard to crash the party.
Brett Rumford, last year’s winner in a sudden death play-off, has stormed to four under par through just nine holes to sit one shot off the clubhouse lead set by Wales’ Garry Houston and Kyron Sullivan.
The 31 year old’s title defence could not have gotten off to a better start as he collected birdies at each of the first three holes. A run of two pars then followed, but a birdie at the par four sixth and three further pars has taken him to the turn in 32.
Playing on the back nine, Rory McIlroy has made equally light work of the stunning setting. He bogeyed the 12th, but birdies at the tenth, 14th, 15th, 17th and 18th have put him in the frame.
Earlier, Houston boosted his hopes of keeping his European Tour card with a superb 66. Source |

| Rumford roars past McIlroy in Switzerland Rory McIlroy was not having things all his own way early in the second round of the Omega European Masters as he continued his bid to become the third youngest winner in European Tour history.
Three clear at eight under par after his superb opening round of 63, the 19 year old Northern Irishman stretched his lead to four with an opening birdie.
After a bogey on the fourth McIlroy did chip in for another birdie at the short eighth to get back to nine under par, but bogeys at the 11th and 13th moved him to seven under through 13, while defending champion Brett Rumford has picked up the pace and improved to nine under with five to play.
The Australian birdied three of his first five holes and covered the back nine in 32 to go seven under, before picking up shots at the first and third. Source |

| Dinwiddie takes clubhouse lead Robert Dinwiddie birdied the final hole to take the clubhouse lead in the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland.
The Englishman’s seven under par round of 64 took him to nine under for the tournament, with only overnight leader Rory McIlroy ahead of him on the course.
Dinwiddie opened with an eagle at the par five first and the early momentum stayed with him as he birdied the third.
A dropped shot at six was cancelled out with another birdie at seven and Dinwiddie picked up four shots on his back nine.
Overnight leaders McIlroy and Brett Rumford came up with the perfect response to losing top spot as they started their rounds. Source |

| McIlroy leads the way in Switzerland Rory McIlroy will take a four stroke lead into the final round of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland after a third round 66.
And afterwards the 19 year old said he had “settled his nerves” with a fantastic round which started with an eagle.
If he takes the title and the €330,330 first prize McIlroy will become the third youngest winner in European Tour history.
South African Dale Hayes was only 18 when he won the 1971 Spanish Open, while Seve Ballesteros was just five days younger than McIlroy at the 1976 Dutch Open - the first of his record 50 Tour victories.
Brett Rumford, joint top at halfway with the Northern Ireland teenager, threw down the gauntlet with an opening 40-foot eagle putt. Source |

| Molinari amongst early movers Francesco Molinari shot a final round 66 to move through the field at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland and set a clubhouse target of ten under par.
The Italian carded six birdies and a bogey in his five under par round at Crans-sur-Sierre.
Starting with six pars, he then birdied both the par four seventh and par three eighth.
Three birdies in four holes at 12, 13 and 15 saw Molinari cut through the field although he then dropped a shot at the 16th.
But a birdie at the par four 18th was enough to give him a one shot clubhouse lead over France’s Michael Lorenzo-Vera, who hit a superb final round 65. Source |

| Lucquin champion in Switzerland Jean-François Lucquin describedit as "a dream" after he won the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in thrilling fashion following a play-off with Rory McIlroy.
The Frenchman shot a bogey free 67 to wipe out the 19 year old from Northern Ireland’s four shot overnight lead and snatched the title with a birdie at the second play-off hole.
Lucquin birdied the par five first before a string of pars on the front nine.
He birdied the par three eighth and then picked up shots on consecutive holes at the tenth and 11th. Source |
