Canadian Stephen Ames played his greatest round of golf to win The Players Championship. Ames took home the richest purse on the PGA tour ($1.44 million) with a final of 14-under 274. Retief Goosen finished behind Ames in The Players Championship.

Congrats to Ames, like I said in other thread. He played much better than the field and dominated the Players Championship. He still will have trouble living down past events though.

1.44 million? Dang thats a lot of cash!

I never noticed how great of a player he was untill i watched him playing. He really has a good feel for the game and was deserving of the win.

Glad to see Ames get the money and the title. He outplayed the field so badly it was unbelievable.

With all he is going through this must have been a great boon for both him and his family. Very happy to see this go through for him. Hope he is able to win some more events this year as well.
