I'm new to this site so sorry if this isn't the right place to post this...

Anyway, I've been ripping my hair out recently trying to record my swing with my camcorder.

My camcorder works fine and I can take a video and get it onto my computer and watch the video. However, it jumps more than one frame at a time. I read that Tour Tempo book and am trying to analyze and count my swing frames.

Anyway, I was over one of the forums on camcorderinfo.com and someone sent me to this step-by-step guide for getting the frame-by-frame video. It worked pretty well for me. There is a VDDub application that you can use to look at each frame. I looked for a Mac guide and couldn't find one; I think this is just Windows. My wife's computer is a PC so I did it there.

Get a better camcorder, or one which does digital recording.. it probably will capture images better.

I never had a problem with mine...

key steps. Set the tripod aligned with the ball (behind the ball).
Now take some shots from directly behind you.

When you do the replay on a tv (use a white board/dry erase marker, those wipe off a tv easily with a tissue) do the following.

Behind ball.. mark your club shaft before take back and on the down swing, note the difference, there should be little. Do you use the same swing plane?

Behind your back. Put a circle around your hand, and lines along your legs. Does your right leg sway past the line (it shouldn't). Does your head come above or to the right of the original circle (it shouldn't).

When you can fix these things you will improve.

1. fix sway, turn tightly, get the left shoulder under your chin.
2. fix head bob, really try to keep your head still. Don't stand up.

Thanks a bunch. Do you mean "put a circle around your HEAD?" in stead of "hand"?

Also, is there a picture someone that illustrates this? I don't quite get what your mean about the lines along legs.

If you're cheap like me... I've actualy found it easy to capture my swing by using a camera that takes multiple pictures.

My new cannon camera came with a neat little tripod which I setup to take approximately 5 pictures per second.

It is a lot easier to compare photos than having to upload video and split up the frame rate.
