Slow swing speed = softer core. Best ball ??

I've ben told that with a slower swing speed I should use a softer core ball like a Maxfli Red Max or a Callaway HX. What are your opinions on the subect, and what ball would you recommend for a slow swing speed? ( My drive swing speed is mid 80's, low 90's if I try to swing harder.

IMO you will benefit from using a lower compression ball with your slower swing speed. The reason is you will be able to compress the ball better, which in turn allows the ball to come off the club head with more speed. Speed = Distance.
Try the Precept Lady's, they are back in stock now. Dunlop Loco's are also a lower compression ball. Lady Pinnacles.
Far too many men golfers think they should be using the ProV 1X. However that ball requires a high swing speed to compress it. If you are not compressing the ball properly then you are giving up distance.
Experiment with different low compression balls until you find one you like and then stick with it all year long. You will soon learn how far that ball flies with your irons etc, and that will make you a better golfers.

GolfBum definitely has the time-in experience Captain so you can review this with some skepticism. Its a posting from Kneff Golf (second hand ball sales)

If you are a golfer seeking the highest velocity golf ball to provide the longest, straightest distance possible or the feeling of durability with your golf ball, you should choose a distance ball. These balls are generally reserved for high handicap, slow swing speeds or beginner to intermediate golfers or for golfers just seeking explosive distance and less side spin. Distance balls, in most cases, are two-piece balls with Surlyn covers that are generally cut-proof. Two-piece balls consist of a thin outer cover, surrounding a large solid inner core. This is the design used by most distance balls. The harder the core material, the further the ball travels. The solid nature of the ball, however, will tend to limit the amount of spin and feel you can impart on the ball. This means that the ball has very low spin and it helps golfers to minimize unintentional hook and slice sidespin resulting in straighter distance. It's usually best to try a few different types of ball to see which offers the best overall benefits to your own current golf game.

Heres some of the balls they recommend
Top Flite Quartz 90 Distance
Titleist DT 90/100 Distance
Titleist DT Distance 80 Distance
Precept MC Distance 90 Distance
Precept Extra Distance 90 Distance
Pinnacle Gold Series 90 Distance
Nike ONE Platinum 90 Distance
Maxfli A10 90 Distance
Dunlop DDH 90 Distance
CallawayWarbird 90 Distance

I too have a slower swing (75-80), and I'm 60.

I've just heard about a new ball from Wilson, a 50 compression ball that I'm going to try. It's called WS-50, and is supposed to have a soft feel.
