Swing speed for good compression

Hi - just curios of any of you - probably 300 ayrds! can help with this question
what swing speed acutally compresses a ball - or rather - my swing spped is about 98 -110 depending ont he day - am i swing hard enough to compress a ball?? when I hit my driver well I drive between 290 and 300 yards - so I thought I must be compressing a ball but maybe not?? can anyone help?

I'm not really sure of the importance of this question, but I can't sleep, so I'll take a crack at it.

Any impact at all will compress the ball. They're not rock hard, although some feel that way. The softer core balls will compress more at impact than will the harder core balls. Also, the longer the ball stays on the clubface, the more the ball will compress, so if you have a club with a really high COR as your driver does, the trampoline effect is greater. You'll definitely be compressing the ball at that swing speed. If you've ever seen this action in slow motion, its pretty cool to watch.

Go to a golf retailer that has a launch monitor, hit some drivers and 5 irons and then you will know your swing speed.
Most golfers tend to over estimate the speed they swing the club at.

Sorry, I didn't see this before..your swing speed is high enough to get max compression on just about any ball. To my understanding, balls aren't rated as high for compression as they used to be. Back in the day, they used to be as high as 100 compression, and were for people with very high swing speeds. However, these days, about the highest compression you'll find is about 80 or so. I've heard that Pro V1s are around 85 compression. You really don't need to worry about this. Your 110 is more than good enough to get full compression.

thanks

thanks all - I completely over estimated my swing spped - I am around 90 miles per hour with the highest I ever clocked being 95. however I have decided to keep it lower cuz I am just trying to break 90 consistantly
thanks
Sw
