Marketing has really brainwashed a lot of people though. Because every single company is out to get your hard earned money! Because with that money - companies can afford more marketing and then see greater returns.

After reading Golfbum's (Pro's) post I feel a little bit smarter today than I did yesterday

Fitz made the comment about playing the same ball year round and while I can do that here in Miami because of consistantly warm temps, do any of you change the ball you play from hot weather to colder weather in places where you suffer a temp change, but still can play most of the year?

I remember in college our coach recommended playing a soft compression ball when we would go somewhere that was still cold. I can't tell you the results were noticeable, in that we didn't rattle our hands on off center hits quite as badly and the team schore didn't seem to vary much regardless whether we played 80 or 90 compression Titleists.

I will admit that I sometimes change golf balls when it gets cold. However I am talking about COLD WEATHER. Such as tempatures 5C and below. (Yes I play golf in weather like that!)

During the normal golf season I play Titleist NXT Tour's. Not because I got caught up in the commercial hype, but simply because I like that ball.
During cold weather I will swtich to Dunlop Loco's if I can find them. If not, I play my NXT Tour.

People are correct when they say one ball might not do it all for them.
However the rules state you must play the same brand of ball during your round. Years ago on the PGA (Before 95% of you guys were born ) some pros were playing one piece balls on long Par 3's. Reason being they wanted to hit less iron so they used the longer one piece balls on those holes. The PGA and USGA changed the rules to eliminate that.

As I stated earlier by playing one ball all the time you learn how far it flies with your iron shots. That is more important than standing there bashing 300+ yard drives all day. Plus let's be honest, most of us do not average 300+ off the tee. When you consider the PGA's big hitters are just over that yardage.

However, if you know your iron distances with a certain ball then you are going to start scoring better. Plus you will putt better as you will know how that ball comes off the face of your putter.

Titleist, TopFlite, Dunlop, whatever ball you use doesn't matter. The most important thing is how many stokes it takes to get it from the tee to the bottom of the cup!

Balls

There are so many new balls on the market. Everyone knows what the #1 ball on the market is, and has been since it was released 8 years ago. There have been changes to it but mostly changes for the durability of the cover. In my opinion here is my list of golfballs and I would recommend some of you to try some of these golf balls, even if you just go out to the course and go ball hunting.

1.> Titleist Prov1 & Prov1X
2.> Srixon ZUR-S or *New ZUR-C (Jim Furyk's Ball)
3.> TaylorMade TP Black(softer more spin) or TP Red(firmer feel, less spin)
4.> Bridgestone B330 or B330S (*B330 Softer more spin)
5.> Callaway HX Tour or HX Tour 56 (*HX56 softer more spin)

Let me know what you think!

I guess the best ball is always going to be the one that's right for you? I've been working REAL hard on s l o w i n g my swing down and in the process have gone from a 16 to a 9 handicap in 90 days. I've found the best ball for me with a slow tempo is the Titleist DTSolo. Still goes far and can back it up on the green if I choose to.
