Personally I've never played indoor golf or used a simulator for more than testing a club at a retailer, unless you count Putt Putt.

Places like Top Golf and themed driving ranges as well as indoor simulators have their place I guess, but in my opinion they're just that fancy driving ranges and video games. It's fun to hang wiith the guys and bang a few balls out across the giant dart board or video screen, over a few beers, I get it, but that's not really golf.
To get good at golf, you have to play golf, outdoors in all types of conditions and on all types of courses. You have to beat your ball out of the woods at times, you have to learn when to stop lookng and take the penalty for a drop, you have to avoid the water and sand and take your lumps, you have to practice in the enviroment that you want to be good in. You can't simulate that....
Playing golf indoors just doesn't sound appealing to me, but that's my opinon...
