Just learning from Jersey

Hi my name is Franz, I'm 47 years young, just learning and have never swung a club before. Had bi-pass surgery 2 years ago and I'm looking to be active and at the same time learn something new. Very competitive would like to know where to start in mastering the basics.

Hi Franz,
I'm just starting back after a long break. If your new to golf I would start out with a few lessons to learn the fundamentals, like stance, grip and swing. After you get those three down it's all practice, practice, practice and a fair bit of frustration, but it will come.

Good luck,

Chris.

If you watch a game, it's fun. If you play it, it's recreation. If you work at it, it's golf.

Hey "Welcome To The Zipper Club" Franz
I had a double by pass last May. I was back on the course 5 weeks after I was let out of the hospital and played over 100 rounds after that in the summer.
You can't go wrong playing golf, if you walk. I walk during 95% of my rounds, and carry my bag. Great way to get some exercise.
If you have never played you might want to think this over. Find a teaching pro and take a few lessons before you head onto the course. The Pro can also help you when it comes to buying clubs. They know the game well and can only be a positive help to you.
This game can be very humbling and it is not easy to learn either.
Good Luck, have fun.

Welcome to the clubhouse Franz, and best of luck with the game. I'd strongly echo getting some lessons. Getting a good idea of the basics will stand you in good stead for your whole golf life, rather than learning bad habbits right from the get go.
