New to the game and loving it!

Hi all

Just found the website and it looks great for advice and tips. Me and my partner are brand new to the game and are hoping to get better so we feel we can actually play 18 holes without making fools of ourselves!

We are in Hampshire in the UK and have been "playing" for around 2 months which really only amounts to half a dozen times around our local pitch and putt and the same on the driving range. We have taken a beginners course (5 hours) and are currently practicing when we can.

Looking to buy a set of clubs soon but I will ask about that in the other forum.

Cheers!

Welcome to golf forum Scarer, always room for another duffer. Don't ever worry about making a fool of yourself, everyone had to go through the same learning curve, shanks, slices, hooks and hours on the range, but it will get better with time. If you end up with specific golf questions, post them and I'm sure the gang here will help you out. As far as new clubs are concerned, you do not have to pay a small fortune for clubs, entry level clubs, Ram, Wilson, Tour Edge, Spalding, all put out good entry level sets that you can pick up for under $200.00. You can also check out your local newspaper buy/sell or local on-line swap shops, sometimes theres some real bargains on used clubs. Again welcome to golf link and hope to hear more from you...

Welcome to the forum Scarer, sounds like there could be an interesting story behind that nickname! When it comes to new clubs, I strongly recommend getting them properly fitted from a trained professional. Someone from your local course's pro shop or a retail store. The can get you the right tools to suit your budget and your swing. Best of luck with the game!
