Newbie from OKC! :)

Greetings!

My name is Paul and I'm a future golf addict... I am hoping to learn a lot about golf and I am starting lessons in just a few weeks.

I do art, music and film for a living (Art By Paul Snyder) and my other interests are home theater and cars.

I bought some 2006 Callaway irons and need to buy some woods/putter this week. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Paul

Hi and welcome. My frist suggest would be to get yourself a lesson so that you learn the right way from the start this will help reduce self taught bad habits which we all get. For a putter there are a million different choice out there I just started with a simple blade putter, which is the type that I still use most on the course. As for the woods/driver you can spend big bucks from the start but just remember to keep an eye out for secound hand ones or even some of the cheaper one when your learning the game it's not always important to have the latest and greatest . Just remember if you do buy new clubs ask to be fitted for them. hope that helps

Thanks for the welcome and the great advice, Surtees! I am fortunately a clean-slate, I have never tried to play before in my life. So I will definitely employ the services of a golf pro to learn the right way.

Best regards-
Paul

Thanks Jeronimo!

I just bought a lightly-used set of 2006 Big Bertha Irons (4,5,6,7,8,9,P and W) and a Big Bertha 9 Driver. I also bought a new Odyssey XG Sabretooth putter.

I was told that I would learn to drive with a 3 wood, so I still need to get that one before I start lessons next Tuesday. I'm sure I'll need other woods as well. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Paul

Thanks Dennis!

The lesson went better than I could've ever imagined. I'd nervously built it up in my head that it would be tremendously difficult to swing a club with any consistency. After just a few grounded balls I was launching them one after another. Nothing spectacular, and not far at all, but the swinging motion felt very natural.

There are few things that feel as nice as getting that ball into the air...I'm hooked!
