TaylorMade Hybirds

I am very new to golf and yesterday was the third time I have ever played and I must say that I am hooked. I am still developing my swing and trying to get something that I can repeat regularly. These hybirds are so damn easy to hit that I went and bought two more tonight. I cannot seem to hit my TM 5 Ti if my life depended on it unless it was on a tee, so fairway shots were all a disaster. Everytime I pulled out my TaylorMade 4 22* the shot went long and straight.

When I played Trilogy in Corona, CA yesterday I kept wishing I had a little more loft for those shots where you had to clear some water and the pin was 10 feet from the water. The 3 other guys I was playing with all were able to pick the right club to pop the ball up high and drop it next to the pin. My shots would clear the water the pin and tend to roll near the back of the green each time so I am hoping the new TM 5 25* will help me to get the ball high and drop when I need it too.

So much of this game is very hard for me to understand being so new but I must say that these Hybirds have really made it MUCH easier for me to learn and have fun. The ball will always go up and straight and for me that has been impossible to do until now.

If you told me this before I started I would not have believed that I would have run out and bought 3 of them but all I can say is what a great product. Now, I need to get out and really start hitting my irons and developing the same confidence. Sorry for the long post but I just had to share.

Spent this morning practicing my chip shots. I hit 100 balls practing the same shot with my wedge and 75 of them were all over the place. The last 25 were controlled and were shot hit and dropped next to or close to the pin. My wife went with me and we had so much fun. Each week we are going to hit ball in the morning an I am only going to work on one pin with one iron at a time to try and get better.

God this is fun and I now see how people can get addicted to this.

Thats the way to do it but there is no point just hitting balls unless you have (and i am sure you do) a reason to like work on a particuler type of shot ot learn how to draw/fade the ball ect

It's nice to hear that you are enjoying the game. The Hybrid club is so easy to hit for sure.

The one thing I would recommend: If you haven't had any formal training, book some time with an instructor at your local golf shop / driving range. I took a class with my wife over the summer [she's a first time golfer] and it was amazing to hear how much information our instructor had. He even tought me a bunch of things I never knew. Our class was $80.00 for 4 sessions [each 1 hour long]

I found a local instructor who wants to charge me $400 for 5-1 hour classes. Is this a fair price. It seems a little high to me? He is PGA and he told me he uses a digital analysis machine? Not sure if that is good or bad. Can anyone give me some feedback on this? What are some good questions to ask when trying to find an instructor, thanks.

to tell you the truth the best swing coaches that i have found are the assistant pros at courses. They will charge like 35-40 bucks for an hour and then even go out on the course with you if u like. If you really want to get those video lessons be ready to have to understand VERY complicated swing compotents, no offence but you being a begginer, probably not a very good idea especially for that price...thats pretty high. Remember the best practice is just playing

Thanks Gatorwarrior7. I was under the understanding everyone was priced about the same and so you needed to try and get the guys with the most experience. I played 54 holes this week so far and I hope to play at least 18 each week if I can get away. I will look for an assistant pro and save some money and not get over my head. I am very tall and my biggest problem is hitting the ball too high or too low. It is really hard to do it the same everytime.....
