Iron set under £230

Hi , I am a beginner of sorts , well returning after a long break anyway , and want to upgrade a 10 year old set of Hogan Edge irons to something more cutting edge. Good grips are a necessity as my old irons are poor even after regripping at local pro shop, also forgiveness is key. No handicap but play local municipal course usually 91-97. Am looking to get below 90 consistently. I'm told RAM are a good choice by salesman but they would woudn't they?

Registered here to get some unbiased recommendations for my standard. Am fed up with trawling the web and shops and coming away empty handed.

Wife has bought me Hippo G300 bag and want new clubs to go in it so at least I can look the part if not play it!

Guess it sort of depends on what type of clubs you want. Sounds like you are looking for game improvement sticks, and that would be some sort of cavity back club. I bought a set of King Cobra 3400I/XH irons for $499 US (£279) this summer and I love them, but that doesn't mean that they would be right for you. They were one of the less expensive brand name clubs in the store.

I'd suggest finding someplace where you can swing several brands and shaft combinations and see what feels best for you.
