Forgiving, but feel good too...?

I'm a bogey golfer (about a 18-20 handicapper), and I'm going to be purchasing new irons. I hit Ping Eye 2s now and have been thinking about looking at some different other iron sets. I obviously need forgiveness, but my game is improving quickly as I have only played for part of one summer and I play a lot. But I would like to try some of the newer clubs that have a semi-cavity back but look and feel a little more like blades or muscle back. The front-runner right now is the Cleveland CG2s, but I'm also going to try out the Mizuno MX 23s and 25s. Any help would be great as far as suggestions go or any other clubs you think I should try.

Thanks,
Ryan

I'm in the process of moving to Callaway X-Tour irons. They look about as traditional as possible, but have legitimate cavity backs. Not only that, they are forged and feel soft.

Forgiving, but....

Try the Mizuno MX900, you wil love them.

Easy to hit, good looks and nice feel.

Good luck.

Titus is right the Mx900 are aimed at high handicappers, try the adams idea set, anything with a lower center of gravity is going to be easier to hit, so any club with weight situated on the back will be better. Also look for a wider sole, this makes the club more forgiving. Good Luck on your search for those clubs!!!

One of the guys I play with is about a 20 handicap. He still has an old set of Armour 845's and while they were great clubs in their time, he has just started looking for new clubs and seems very interested in the Adams sets. I think those people are onto something with the design of their clubs in general, but also with the automatic inclusion of hybrids into a set of irons.

The rest of us are buying irons, then sticking a 3 iron or 4 iron, or maybe both, into a closet while we enjoy using a hybrid in replacement. I can tell you from experience that my hybrids are not the same swingweight as my irons. While it isn't bothersome, I simply know it. A weight coordinated set with hybrids from Adams seems like a logical way to have a set built to be a SET, with no wasted money on closet clubs.
