New Irons

This year Im finally going to replace my 7 year old TaylorMade 360 irons (they were awesome) and am looking to upgrade to "player's" irons. I currently have a 7.8 handicap and want a players cast or forged iron. I am looking at these sets

Callaway:
X20-Tour
X Tour
X Forged

Cobra:
Carbon CB
Forged CB

Mizuno:
MP-67

Taylor Made:
R7 TP

Titleist:
695 CB
735 CM
755
775 CB

If anyone has or tried these irons I would like to hear the feedback. Also, if anyone has other suggestions or questions, let me know. Thanks

I recently tried a set of loaned X-Tour irons for a month. I really liked them, but my swing is out of practice and I hit them very well some days and not well at all on other days. They have a sensual feel to them when you hit them well.

Wow, that is a lot of choices. I recently went through this when I replaced a set of Eye 2's that I had played for 19 years. I knew that my swing had changed and that I had benefited from replacing my driver more frequently, plus changing out the shaft from OEM was super.

The first thing I did was go to the store and throw everything down on the ground, usually a wedge, to see if it looked good at address. Some had really thick top lines, some didn't look square, etc. I got it down to 4 that way. I tried the R7TP, x20 Tour, Ping G5 and Rapture. I did like the R7, mixed reviews on the Callaway and couldn't really see any difference between the Rapture and the G5.

Bought the G5's, maybe because I'm just a Ping guy and because they were $150 less than the Rapture's. They are incredibly straight and I hit them very high, for me at least.

I did love the way the X Forged looked, but just couldn't pull the trigger on a forged club since leaving behind those Staff blades in 1983.

Good luck.

Ok so I went to Golf Galaxy Yesterday and hit some of the Irons

R7 TP--Liked the club at address but the ball flight was not what I expected plus the ball only went about 155 yards with a 7 iron..and they didnt even feel that good off of center hits

Callaway--These clubs were too big when I put them down at address..They are not what I am looking for

Titleist 755--Liked these clubs and they felt good but were not as consistent as I wanted them to be. I asked to see other Titleist irons but the staff guy told me once you hit one set, youve pretty much hit them all.. Since I really did not like the 755s I took his word.

Mizuno MP-67...These clubs are amazing. I hit the 7 Iron with a nice medium-med high trajectory and can really work them nicely from right to left, which is my natural ball flight. Most of my 7 itons carried 165 yards and I had a really center hit that carried 180. The ball flight was a bit higher than the Titleis but that was also due to the increased RPM *Almost 7000 rpm* I am going to get the MP67s in March when I will have the money for them and will get them custom fitted too..Ill probably have to get the lie angle a little flatter and the length of the club shortened cuz im only 5'6".

Thanks for the feedback..If anyone has comments about the MP67s feel free to add them.
