Nike Forged Blade Irons... Hi all I read some threads regarding blade irons and lot of people seemed to give good description of Mizuno irons but not much for the Nike blade irons partly because not many people or their friends seemed to have them.
I can answer some questions regarding Nike blades if anyone have specific questions but I must say Nike forged irons are the best irons I have ever tried in my life.
I originally started playing golf with some cheap Titlist sets with steel shafts and later upgraded to Callaway Hawkeyes which were graphite shafts.
I used my Callaways for 3 years but I didn't like the clubs at all (although I gained little distances) and I actually went back to playing with my old sets.
After contemplating for almost a year and trying out many different sets at the local Golfsmith stores, I decided on the Nike Blades and these sets just do wonders for me.
In my opinion everybody has to find an appropriet equipment based on their swing style, speed, strength and height.
In my case, I am 5 feet 9 inches tall and I have lot of strength with fast down swing.
The reason I like the Nike blades are because it is so easy to manuver my club heads even when I am in a swinging motion. This could be bad for some players but I like it because I can adjust my club while swinging if I sense that my club face is closed.
Also it could be a good or bad feature depending on how you look at it but Nike blades are very accurate with a sweet spot size of a dime. In other words if I hit it right, the impact feed back gives a sudden rush of adrenaline pump (oh yeah it feels that good...) in my body. Howeverbecause the sweet spot is so small it doesn't have any forgiveness.
If you are looking for a forgiveness in your irons or have slow-weak swing, this set is not for you.
These irons are pretty heavy and it requires lot of strength to get the distance you want. In my case, I used to hit around 165 with my 7 iron but I can only hit around 155 with my blade 7 iron.
Yes you may be turned off because you don't get the distance but Nike blades are very very accurate.
Also going back to forgiveness issue, I recommend the Nike blades to anyone who has lot of patients and willing to improve their game. My view is like this, lot of people say single hadicappers should only use blade type of irons but I say those people who are starting to play golf or those who want to change their swing to improve their game should use these.
Yes it can be very frustarting for first 3 months but because it has no forgiveness, you know whether you hit the ball correctly or not right away. Many people including myself tend to build bad habbits when their irons are very forgiving. Because the forgiving irons make your shots appear alright although in reality you didn't hit the ball correctly, you begin to think that you have no problem with your swings and start to fall into your bad habbits.
Using the unforgiving irons like Nike Blades not only help you correct your bad habbits but also improve your game in a long term because your swing will actually get better if you work on it.
One last thing about Nike blades is that when you hit the ball on the fairway it will fly with perfect height and land very softly on the grass because it's forged. The ball will pretty much land and stop where it landed if you hit it correctly (only for 6-pw, 3-5 does tend to roll much farther than where the ball landed).
I know my writing is disorganized and I apologize for that.
please feel free to comment or ask me about the Nike blades.... |
