Well GOOD is relative, a good tradesman would not blame shoddy work on his tools. Callaway x series are supposedly top notch, I'd be wondering about the guy who sold you one for $5.00, you might have to wear asbestos gloves to use it.

I play the Callaway X-18 irons and absolutely love them. I borrowed some of the forged X-Tour irons for a few weeks before I got the X-18's and the X-18's feel as good as the forged clubs. The closest thing to a complaint I could make is that the sand wedge has a rather narrow flange on it and I've stuck with the bigger flange on my old 2002 Bertha wedge. I have the steel shafts and I understand the graphite shafts are even softer feeling than what I have.

As a followup to this thread, I still like the feel of the X-18's, but the Uniflex shaft is somewhat weird in my hands. I've been trying a set of regular shafted irons and in the back of my mind, I'm thinking I might actually reshaft my X-18's with R300's.

Hey,

if you right now have the budget, why not settle for a X20?

a X20 is a lot better than X18, specially if its a Project X Rifle shaft.

Callaway irons are mainly made for mid to high handicappers, mainly because they hit the ball so high and have the HUGE head on them. That's just the setup they come with. I believe this is the set my dad plays. I've hit them before and I have a relatively neutral ball flight when I'm swinging good. These things got up quickly and probably went 1/2 a club to a club less further than my normal irons did. That said, 5 bucks is a good deal for one. Make sure the shaft isn't bent or something.

WELL I HAD TAYLORMADE IRONS BEFORE AND I HIT THESE ALOT LESS DISTANCEand as for the handicap i got recommended these irons by at least three pros and i am now a 6.5 handicap so i don't believe this to be ture i will admit they are very forgiving and they can be used at any standard of golf
