New Irons Question (X20, MX25)

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I'm currently using Callaway X-18's with stiff graphite shaft. I'm a young, big guy and I'd like to switch to steel shafts. I went to the golf shop today (not intending to buy myself clubs but a friend of mine). I'm a regular at this store and I shot a couple of balls with my clubs and the worker told me I should try hitting with steel shafts now. I hit with the MX-25 (forged) and it was quite an experience. The feel at impact is very nice. Personally, I really like Callaway (I don't know why, I just do)...but the Mizuno MX-25 is very attractive.

I was wondering if you guys could give me advice on these clubs or other clubs before I blow money away.

The Mizzys are an excellent choice. I also like callaway but mx-25 good also. Before I would buy I would negotiate taking them for a spin out on range or better yet the course. They can be high launch depending on your swing and what steel shaft. There is not sweeter feeling than hitting a forged pure. Now I have th urge to play my Hogan apex plus irons now.

Mizuno forged irons are always good but if you liked the feelings on MX-25,
have you tried the Callaway X-Forged and X-Tour irons???
They are both forged and they hit as well as they look.

Although X-Forged was voted as one of the best iron set by Golf Digest 2007, I like the feel for the X-Tour better than X-Forged because X-Forged lacks the true forged feel in my opinion.

Also since you have the Callaway X-18 you may really like the callaway X-20 Tour because I believe X-20 Tour has the closest forged feel although it's made from a cast iron.

The reason why I like the Callaway X-Tour is because it's forged and it has the X-20 series feel to it.

In my opinion, going from Callaway X-18 to any forged iron set is a big step because you are not going to get any forgiveness like you used to get from your Callaway X-18 irons... be prepared to practice more...=)

Lastly if you are focused on the feel at the impact, try hitting forged muscle back irons.... once you get used to this feeling you can never go back....
