I've never had custom fit clubs, and I think some of the inconsistencies in my game stem from the fact that my irons are pretty much right from the shelf. Everyone that has them raves about how much better they can hit them.

I'm considering getting custom fit Taylor Made r7 TP irons. I've read these have some of the feel and workability of a blade, while still keeping the forgiveness of a cavity back. Seems to be the best of both worlds to me. BTW, I'm about a 7 handicap or so, so I should have no problem with these.

I hit the r7 on a swing simulator, but not the TP.

Has anyone demo'd the TP or does anyone currently play with them?

My son-in-law's father just got a set and has only played with them twice. He's thrilled with his.

Sweet. Do you know if he got them custom-fit from TM? If you hear anything else, please let me know. I'm back and forth on whether to buy these!

Nah, he just grabbed them off the shelf, but he's right about the size clubs are designed for... 5'10" tall, 180 lbs, swings around his body instead of up and down...

I hit a demo 6-iron in the TP the other day. The good ones felt really solid, and the bad ones weren't too far off line. I've got a little work to do on my swing, then I'm gonna take the plunge and buy these.

I got hold of a 6-iron to take to the range today. It had an S300 shaft in it, which I think is a tad too whippy for me. I kind of had to baby it or else it would hook on me. It was really difficult to hid a good fade with it, but really easy to hit a draw.

Aside from it having the wrong shaft for my swing, the iron felt incredible. The club sits so nicely and is actually quite large, yet still has great feel and feedback, which I like.

On good hits (in the middle of a big swing change), it went about 5 yards further than my current 6-iron (same loft) and quite a bit higher, which again I like.

I'm set on these now and once I visit my pro to get his input on specs, I'll be ordering my set with Project X Rifle shafts, either 6.0 or 6.5. Can't wait.
