Older Cobra Forged CB Irons

For the longest time, I have wanted a set of irons with game improvement features like a deep sole, oversized head, perimeter weighting, maybe a little bubble of muscle back inside the perimeter, BUT WITHOUT THE STUPID OFFSET... I need the help modern technology can offer me, but I want my irons to look classic and I certainly don't need help avoiding a slice.

I tried some Callaway X-16 Pro and X-18 Pro irons, and they were nice enough, but they still had some visible offset. I tried a set of Cleveland CG2 irons, which looked really good, but they were old fashioned small heads and it was too easy to miss the ball.

I finally stumbled across something that I like in all respects. I got a set of 2-3 year old Cobra Forged CB irons. I'm not actually sure how old they are. I got them used, but they are in just incredible condition. TGW still sells the few sets they have left, but I snapped these up for less than 1/2 what they sell for new/old stock.

It got a bunch of us talking about whether we settle for what is offered to the general public or whether we can actually have our cake and eat it too. Does anyone else feel like you would prefer something different about your clubs?

I know mine are like that, they have cavities and 3-7 have an undercut cavity and the rest have a regualar cavity. They are the Wilson Staff Pi5's. I love the carbon fiber strip in the back and the no off set. Really a steal at $100.

I've used the new irons three times and I continue to get happier with them. I can still make a bad pass at the ball, but I'm hitting the ball on line a lot more instead of pulling things like I did with the offset irons. Maybe it's a psychological thing, but for me, it works.
