No, it's not a sand wedge, I think it's in between a p-wedge and a s-wedge.

Its a gap Wedge
It probably has a loft of 52*

I think its called an approach wedge. Let me know how you get on with the clubs as they are on my wanted list at moment!!

Does it say what loft it is?

47 is pitching wedge

54/56 is sand iron

56+ lob wedge

So where the loft fits inbetween these will tell you when to use it.

Many players have 3 wedges or even 4 now depending on how they play.

I think it stands for 'attack wedge,' but either way, it's going to be betweeen your pitching wedge and sand wedge.
