| Spectacular field in Maryland After five straight weeks in the south, the Nationwide Tour goes north this week into Mitchellville, Md. for the Melwood Prince George's County Open. Maryland native Fred Funk is the event's honorary chairman for the second year in a row. "Golf fans in the region should come out and see this Nationwide Tour event because they're going to see some great players who will compete on the PGA TOUR in the very near future," said the former University of Maryland golf coach. | With 8-under 64, Klauk leads by two in Prince George's MITCHELLVILLE, Md. -- Jeff Klauk grew up at TPC Sawgrass in Florida, where his father served as the course superintendent for 23 years so Thursday's windy conditions in the opening round of the Melwood Prince George's County Open were nothing new to the 30-year old. Klauk tamed the swirling, gusting winds at The Country Club at Woodmore with a tournament-record 8-under-par 64, good for a two-stroke lead after the first day of the $650,000 Nationwide Tour event. Still, the 30-year-old St. Augustine, Fla., resident finds himself in the same position in round two as round one -- squarely at the top of the leaderboard. Complete article |

| Four players share lead after 54 holes in Maryland MITCHELLVILLE, Md. -- Saturday is called "moving day" in professional golf, but the third round at the Melwood Prince George's County Open more closely resembled Friday afternoon traffic on the Beltway around Washington D.C. -- a few folks inching forward early on, but everyone else pretty much stuck right where they started. | Klauk wins Prince George's County Open on final hole MITCHELLVILLE, Md. -- Jeff Klauk made the putt when he absolutely had to have it. The 30-year-old Floridian toyed with the lead for most of four rounds at the Melwood Prince George's County Open before rolling in a 12-foot birdie putt on the closing hole that was worth not only a second career title but in all likelihood, his first trip to the PGA TOUR.
