With card secure, Klauk seeks more success

Jeff Klauk must certainly feel like he is at home when he arrives at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open given the success he has had at Crestview Country Club.

Since his first appearance in 2002, the Florida native has earned $138,638 in six starts, including his first Nationwide Tour win in 2003, a T2 and a T7 last year.

Currently ninth on the money list with more than $245,000 in earnings this year, Klauk has all but locked up his PGA TOUR card for the first time. At year's end in early November, cards will be awarded to the top-25 money winners for 2009. The Florida Southern graduate has four top-10 finishes, including a win at the Melwood Prince George's County Open outside Washington, D.C.

Switch to belly putter pays dividends for Tolles

In the 19-year history of the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, play has been suspended eleven times. Today was one of them.

A line of thunderstorms passed over the Crestview Country Club and play was suspended at 10:15 a.m. At the time, Tommy Tolles, who started on the back nine, held the lead at 6-under through 12 holes, largely thanks to playing holes 15-18 in 4-under-par.

"I was hoping the weather would skirt around us," said the 41-year-old Tolles. "I'm getting older, so I came in for a nap."

Piercy thrives on feeling of 'eerie calm' to shoot 62

With the Olympic Games beginning in China at 8:08:08 p.m., Scott Piercy could identify with the "faster, higher, stronger" Olympic motto, getting off to a fast start, looking for a high finish and turning in his strongest performance so far this year.

Piercy, a 29-year-old from Las Vegas, Nev., followed a first-round 64 with a 9-under 62 for a 16-under 126, setting the 36-hole tournament record at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.

More rain suspends Wichita play as Piercy maintains lead

Scott Piercy, a 29-year-old from Las Vegas, Nev., leads at 21-under-par through 53 holes at the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.

After a three-hour weather delay before the start of the third round, six players have one hole remaining after thunderstorms drowned the Crestview Country Club, and play was suspended for the day at 6:40 p.m. Piercy (21 under), Daniel Summerhays (16 under), and Chris Anderson (15 under) were left stranded on the tee of the final hole.
