Scranton's Elmhurst C.C. plays host for first time

Australian Jarrod Lyle, who nearly played his way onto the PGA TOUR last week at the Xerox Classic in Rochester, N.Y., arrives in the Scranton, Pa. area this week for the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic, having strengthened his position atop the Nationwide Tour money list.

Starting the final round four strokes back of leader Brendon de Jonge, Lyle burst out of the gates and into the lead with a four-under-par 31 on the front nine. A disappointing back nine of three-over-par 38 dropped Lyle into a second-place finish with de Yonge claiming the victory.

Tidland and Chalmers share lead at Northeast Pennsylvania Classic

Chris Tidland and Australia's Greg Chalmers fired a 7-under-par 63s Thursday to share the opening-round lead in the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic, the 22nd stop on the 2008 Nationwide Tour schedule.

Tidland posted his score in the morning to establish the course record along with a career-best in the process. Chalmers matched Tidland's numbers 4 ½ hours later to share the top spot in the $525,000 event, which is being held at Elmhurst Country Club after spending the first eight years at nearby Glenmaura National Golf Club in Scranton.

"I knew right from the start of the day what was leading before I even started," said the lefty Chalmers, the Tour's No. 4 money winner. "It gives you a gauge that there are some low numbers out there and you can go and be aggressive and attack."

Points takes 54-hole lead in Northeast Pennsylvania Classic

D.A. Points is hoping history repeats itself in the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic. Points shot a 3-under-par 67 in Saturday's third round at Elmhurst Country Club and staked himself to a two-stroke lead heading into the final round of the $525,000 Nationwide Tour event.

Piercy gets second win in three weeks at NE Pennsylvania Classic

Scott Piercy figured he needed a 63 in Sunday's final round of the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic to reach the winner's circle. He was wrong. His 6-under 64 was good enough to make up a four-stroke deficit on the 54-hole leader and earn his second victory in three weeks.
