| Stricker victorious in Northern Trust Open
Starting the final round yesterday with a six-shot lead at Riviera, Stricker led by only two shots after five holes, and still didn't feel as though he had the tournament wrapped up until he tapped in for a 1-under 70. He finished two ahead of Luke Donald at 16-under 268.
Phil Mickelson, trying to become the first player to win 3 straight years at Riviera, had a 73 and finished 14 shots behind.
Kevin Na shot a 66 to secure his spot in the 64-man Match Play Championship, Feb. 17-21. Yesterday was the cutoff for players to qualify based on the world ranking. Scott Verplank and Chad Campbell also qualified. |
