Perhaps animals in general belong in the wild. I have nothing against eating meat (even certain animals eat other animals), or perhaps using animals for transportation when it'd seem absolutely proper to, but holding down an animal for "mental support" for whatever actually seems like a sick thing to me. You know that animal would possibly eat you if it could?

In the animal kindgom, you don't see animals forcing other animals down for "affection-based" purposes, or whatever. Just imagine if YOU were cut away from your natural habitat for the sake of being some other species' "toy", or "sweetie" or whatever.

I'm open to debate, and perhaps this'll help make this forum more active.
Hi, Uhh I think it all depends on how you treat the animal. If you say 'pet' it means you treat it with all the love the you can give. Some animals are for the wild, some are don't. Example, dogs. You can't put dogs in the wild, they need people, they need shelter and food.

You obviously have never raised a child, it's a lot different than a Labrador retriever ....

We have two "Big Guys" who are our traveling companions. One is a rescue animal from the pound, and the other given to us as a 8 week old pup. Both weigh well over 100 lbs, and are spoiled beyond belief. We tend to do a lot of desert "boon docking" camping, and these boys don't let anything, or anyone bother us. Unless we allow it of course. We have raised two daughters through college, and on to marriage. We raised 6 Grand Kids til they were old enough to get into school. We inquired some months ago about being a foster home for children, but were informed we were too old. So it's no more children, and the dogs are just as good.

I think there's nothing wrong in PET ownership, I mean all those animals that were bred for living with humans. Caging wild animals is doubtlessly cruel

Pet ownership is really a good thing provided that you know how to treat them well and raise them with love and care, food and shelter. I feel pitiful when I see other dogs tied in chain or being caged all day, wondering how long they've endured the tight leash that has been tied around their neck. We have 5 pet dogs and I let them roam in the house and treat them like they are part of our family.

If anyone thinks they might talk me out of our new rescue dog, you're sorely mistaken.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having pets. I think it is a very good thing to own pets!
