Sorry this is a rant... Please stop reading this right now if you are not in the mood to read something so pointless as this thread about how depressing winter is today.

It's the end of February and all of the courses are closed because of the snow cover and winter weather. I just absolutly hate this month... 1 week ago the temperatures were starting to break out of the high 30's and low 40's but then the last two nights have included sleet and freezing rain the ground is really messed up right now. It's not too cold to play but because of the stuff on the ground my Driving range (outdoor w/ heaters) is even closed. I always find that this month is the longest one for me because spring and the warmer weather is so close that I can almost feel it... But alias, it's the last couple of days this month and I'm sitting here dreaming the warmer weather and a couple rounds with some friends.

End rant... that feels better.

Hey sit back and relax in the Motor City!
One month, 30 days or less and I bet you and I are on the golf course. I remember my course opened last year on March 28, I know because I played 9 holes after work and it was the first day it was open.
The weather is supposed to warm up above freezing on the weekend. With rain, which washes snow away!
My area had that freezing rain yesterday as well. Lots of accidents

Besides, we need some time off from the game to refresh our minds! Last time I played was January 6, so it has not been that long.
Regrip your clubs to make you feel involved!

Regroove all your irons with a dull wooden tee if you have your clubs regripped and there's still half a foot of snow on the ground.

It keeps the mind off of actually golfing but still allows you to hold your clubs.

You guys should pop over to the UK, lovely mild weather at the moment. I was playing saturday and sunday last week in short sleeve t shirts.

The ground has dried out enough, its no longer boggy in places. The course is perfect.

Its just a shame my golf sucks at the moment!

Golfed in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday. It was 75. Thank god spring is finally arriving. I've been going nuts not being able to play!

Guys, I feel for all of you. When I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, we didn't have harsh winters anything like some of you do, but we weren't cultivated to tolerate cold very well and simply didn't play for the winter in much the same way you describe your woes.

I remember playing one year on Christmas day and thinking it was nice at around 50 degrees. THEN, on New Year's Day, it was almost 70 degrees and we actually had a crowded golf course. Ten days later it was below freezing and I stopped my love affair with Mother Nature, describing her in other not so nice terms.

It'll work eventually, but yes, the main purpose is just to hold your clubs for a while.

Edit: Just played for the first time this year yesterday!!!
I only got 9 holes in, and I shot a 41, but it was still great to be there!
