| Official 2007 AT&T Classic Discussion Thread The AT&T Classic, formerly known as the BellSouth Classic, and, at its beginning in 1967, the Atlanta Classic, is a regular golf tournament on the PGA Tour. AT&T, which acquired BellSouth in 2006, is now the main title sponsor of the tournament. From the event's inception until 1996 it was played at Atlanta Country Club in Marietta, Georgia, northwest of Atlanta. Since 1997, it has been played over the Stables and Meadows Courses at the TPC at Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia, which is northeast of Atlanta.
For many years this tournament was held mostly in May. Then from 1999 to 2006, it was played the week before the Masters Tournament. Beginning 2007, the tournament will be held the third weekend in May, one week after the Players Championship. The AT&T Classic is a part of the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup competition. |
